Welcoming Love Into Your Life – An Alternative Valentine’s Post
Discover the roots of St Valentine’s Day celebrations along with three key beliefs to have to welcome love into your life.
Welcoming Love Into Your Life
St Valentine’s Day can be traced back to its roots in ancient European festivals. Lupercalia for example was a Roman fertility rite, celebrated on February 15th. The festival honoured the gods Lupercus, Faunus, Romulus and Remus.
The rituals involved some quite gruesome activities, and the priest would also whip onlookers, which was said to ease the pain of childbirth and promote fertility. On a more romantic note, love was made possible when young men would draw the name of an eligible girl from a pot, and they would court until the festival the following year.
If you are looking to attract love into your life, forget these ancient rites! Instead, focus on the following:
- Believe in yourself
- Believe in others
- Believe that you deserve happiness
Self Belief – The old adage that you have to love yourself before you can be loved is somewhat true. Self-acceptance leads to a sense of self-worth, and if you know why you can be loved, you will find it easier to accept that you can be loved.
Belief in Others – You have to have faith in others too. If you are scarred by past relationships and fear that the next person will do the same again, you will be waiting for something to go wrong. Accepting that people can be nice is an important step in the right direction!
The Right To A Happy Relationship – Finally, you must believe that happiness can be yours. If you believe you are worth loving, and you believe that someone can be loving towards you, in spite of past experiences, you can then see that a happy, healthy and loving relationship is possible.
